VALID DRINKS IN THE KETO DIET
These drinks that we are going to see below contain alcohol but do not contain carbohydrates although they do contain enough calories, so they are valid for the ketogenic diet but depending on our needs
DRINKS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR THE KETO DIET (drink very occasionally)
Vodka: It has to be pure and unflavored vodka since flavored vodkas usually contain many added sugars.
Whiskey: Whiskey also does not contain added sugars when it is of good quality and can be drunk in the ketogenic diet.
Tequila: Also in this case it must be a good quality tequila and nothing to consume any that is flavored.
Geneva: We must follow the same guidelines, drink a small amount and never consume flavored gins.
Non-sweet white wine: only one glass is allowed, pure, without juices or soda
Champagne: this is the one with few calories and we can afford a couple of glasses, the favorite drink of the stars!
**** Note ****
Drinking alcohol without carbohydrates not only does NOT stop ketosis but can increase it, as it produces the release of more ketones.
This is because alcohol produces effects on the metabolism of the liver and when we drink alcohol of this type, without carbohydrates and without added sugars, the liver converts alcohol to triglycerides that favor the production of ketone bodies.
Some people experience a greater drunkenness when they are in ketosis, and in the same way they suffer strong hangovers.
So that this does not happen, it is best to drink a glass of water for every glass of alcohol we drink.
